| Laboratory Assistant (PT) - Sample Management - Midnight Shift
Prepare blood samples for testing, disposal, and shipping. Perform customer communications and reagent inventory control process. Maintain manual and computer records associated with production or testing. Comply with ARCBS policies, procedures and directives pertaining to the safety, quality, identity, and purity of the blood supply. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other applicable federal, state and local laws. Receive and prepare donor samples and documentation for testing.
Major Responsibilities:
Receive and prepare donor samples and documentation for testing. Evaluate samples to determine suitability for testing. Prepare and ship samples, as applicable. Operate, maintain and perform quality control on laboratory equipment. Ensure that equipment is approved for use, maintenance complete and documented. Perform troubleshooting on equipment/computers as assigned by Lead Laboratory Assistant or Supervisor. Perform the confirmatory send out process and ensure completeness and accuracy. Perform and assist the reagent inventory control process. Ensure adequate inventory of required supplies for department and area. Perform data entry and operate the computer programs associated with donor samples. Maintain accurate, legible and complete production and testing records. Carefully review paperwork and consistently identify discrepancies to ensure production efficiency and consistent compliance. Demonstrate knowledge in all procedures performed in the assigned department. Exercise initiative in problem resolution with co-workers. Participate in continuing education programs and training/retraining as necessary. Perform sample tube disposal, reagent/supply processes, equipment and supply cleaning, sample tube retrieval, plate washing procedures, unracking/racking sample tubes, re-spinning donor samples, preparing and closing bio-hazardous boxes. Maintain a neat and organized work area. Receive and accept 2,000 - 10,000 blood sample tubes for daily testing. Un-box and prepare tubes to be provided to testing departments in timely manner. Cross train in Inventory Control function.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent education required. Healthcare certification/diploma (i.e. Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, Lab Assistant, and Phlebotomist) or prior laboratory or healthcare experience desired. May be required to meet specific state requirements.
Essential Funcations / Physical Requirements:

Kneel, stoop, crouch and balance occasionally. May lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. On-call may be required. Laboratory environment with high safety or health considerations. Moderate noise level. May require the ability to tolerate temperatures 2 - 8 degrees Celsius (approximately 36 – 46 degrees Fahrenheit) for short periods of time (in suitable cold temperature clothing provided). Process automated the accountability and scanning, internal and external records received and maintain all racking and un-racking records forwarded from all departments within the facility. Prepare appropriate documents. Verify document and, after verification, destroy appropriate documents according to procedure. Provide archived and/or stored documents upon request. Prepare and submit reports using word processors, computer spreadsheets and computer database programs as appropriate. Respond to internal and external audits required. Basic computer skills required. Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site. Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level.
Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens:
This position requires the incumbent work under conditions where the potential exists for the incumbent to make contact with blood or blood components as a result of splashes, spills and/or sharps.

| Facilities Technician (FT) - Day Shift
Responsible for keeping the facility clean and presentable. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure that all floors are kept clean, mopped, buffed and waxed on a scheduled basis. Vacuum carpeted areas daily and clean them on a scheduled basis. Dispose of all non-biohazardous waste throughout the facility. Assist in the removal of the biohazardous waste barrels as needed. Keep all sinks clean and free of debris. Ensure the cleanliness of the entrance to the laboratory, the break area, drinking fountain, restrooms, and conference room. Be readily available to assist in the clean up of spills, water leaks, and other “disasters” that may affect the cleanliness of the facility. Dust all counters, shelves, blinds, and laboratory bench tops on a scheduled basis. Perform other duties as assigned.
Scope:
No budgetary or supervisory responsibility Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent experience is required. Ability to interact with all levels of staff. Ability to work in a biohazardous area. Demonstrated knowledge of commercial hard surface floor care, stripping, prep and refinishing preferred. Experience using electric powered and human operated equipment including, power washers, automatic floor scrubber/buffer, carpet extractors, grout and commercial vacuum equipment preferred. Knowledge of commercial grade cleaning chemicals including mixing/diluting and handling preferred. Ability to deal effectively with others and to work independently or with minimal supervision required. Must be self-motivated and detailed oriented. Requires frequent standing and walking.
